In the early nineties I went out with this guy who was an unfettered die hard fan of Dave Letterman. As I recall most of this guy's initiated conversations were about Letterman. Prior to our last date this dude was incessant on bragging about his future trip to New York where he had scored front row tickets to the Letterman Show. A week later after this guy returned from New York we set up a date. I found it interesting that during our extended pre date phone conversation he never brought up Lettermen. I later discovered why. He began to tell me on our last date that Letterman was the rudest most condescending egocentric person he had ever encountered. Although he did not actually encounter Letterman, he went on to explain that Letterman was rude and dismissing to his audience during the pre show warm up. "His warm up portion of the show was certainly not warm," he dissapointingly admitted. I gathered that my date was no longer an unfettered fan. Seemed my date's feathers were ruffled to the extreme and it appeared he was no longer a fan of the goofy toothy Letterman. Needless to say I never went out with the guy, never knew the reason why. I am guessing he went into a deep depression when he discovered people on TV aren't what they seem. Could it be that Letterman's funny antics were just consequential quirks? As time went on I never could quite get my date's experience out of my mind. With Letterman's obvious disdain for conservative views, and overly liberal talk [especially the constant bashing of Palin and uncalled for comments] I came to realize there was more to this man then meets the eyes. Remember folks it is all about the eyes.
Fast forward to the present and the current legal issues concerning Letterman's infidelity, I soon realized my hunches about the washed up putz [Letterman] were right on. We are all familiar with the extortion of Letterman in regards to his infidelity while cohabiting with his current wife and mother of his child. But today it came out that Letterman was still involved with this Birkitt [assistant] well into this past summer and hence Letterman's statements that it had ended in December of 2008 was all just a lie. I believe it and I am not surprised. Letterman had us all fooled. Well he did not have me fooled. I can only look back on those few dates with the Letterman fan and remember how devastated he was when he had succumbed to the false hood of Letterman's television persona.
It seems there is more to come on the Letterman saga with nothing good coming out of this for Letterman. The question is, will his fans stand by him? Well my guess is yes. People are more forgiving nowadays. You can have the worse mass murderer in history and people will find a good reason to forgive that person. I just don't get it. People just don't take a stand anymore. Is this why society has gone down the tubes? People have no morals or ethics! Mainly it is my generation and younger that have disappointed me. You have to search for the good in people. There is no reason to search. There is no reason why we have to look through the jellybean jar to find the prize. I wonder if our world will wake up to decency. How hard is it to be a good person? I find it easier to be good and kind than evil. Look I am not the happiest person in the world. I certainly have my stuff. But my god with all the crap I have been through I firmly believe I have no right to take my stuff out on others. How can Letterman do this to his wife and child? He is a public figure, how long did he think his crappy shenanigans would go undercover? Well life has it's way of coming around and for Letterman he may not have lost his fans but he has lost respect in the eyes of those who are unfettered.
